Football Hooligan

He is clever enough to know that
He’s semi-literate and sounds like a fool
And
He’s sensitive enough know that
He’s tolerated because he’s a laugh
But
He’s too lazy to do anything about it.

He’s clever enough to know that
Jobs with brute strength have virtually disappeared
And
He’s sensitive enough to know that
Jobs-on-the-side give him no respect
But
He likes his tattoos; a sign of success.

He’s clever enough to know that
The England football team probably won’t win
And
He’s sensitive enough to know that
It probably doesn’t matter that much
But
He’s here: fighting, drinking and being a man.
