The Wave

Japanese wave painting

Japanese wave painting

Tiny rainbows gleefully arch the surfboard
Dancing with the surfer’s legs. Admiring
The wave beneath him. The billion
Gallons of inspiration crest majestically
Oceanic aspiration created over thousands of miles
Bring together timeless youth with aesthetic genius.

Doubts kill when cresting a primeval
Wave. Colossal tsunami of power
Adored, cherished by artists and surfers alike
Transformational!
Man becoming God, Hope eternal.
A million years pounding the shoreline
Yet the wave ignores its own mortality.
The surfer willingly tethered to the wave
Shares this eternal delusional moment.

The tiny rainbows, a Greek chorus,
Gaily entertain the immortal Gods.
