Somewhere

You were somewhere
There in your pigtails
Gingham dressed
With snub toed shoes

I was somewhere
In hand-me-downs
Brothers had abused
Bitten fingernails

In time you grew, somewhere
And boys would stumble
A favoured few
To fumble

Then years lost somewhere
We made mistakes
Each acting that of ducks and drakes
In a hemisphere not true

Partnered- trapped somewhere
Where disappointment grew
And roving eyes in time
We past each other along the line

But now we are somewhere
That makes us both smile
In those endless whiles where
Hand in hand we both are there.
